Drug Smuggling Nexus Busted: Four Arrested in Amritsar

Four drug smugglers were arrested by the Amritsar police, seizing over five kilograms of heroin. The accused had links with Pakistan-based smugglers using drones for cross-border drug trafficking. Further investigations are underway with expectations of more arrests and recoveries.

In a significant crackdown on drug smuggling, the Amritsar police have arrested four individuals and confiscated over five kilograms of heroin, officials confirmed on Thursday.

The suspects, identified as Gurjant Singh alias Kalu, Jagjit Singh from Amritsar, Sahil Kumar alias Sahil from Tarn Taran, and Rinku from Ferozepur, were reportedly linked to Pakistan-based smugglers who utilized drones to transport narcotics across the border.

Two separate FIRs have been registered at the Cantonment and Sadar Amritsar police stations under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav stated that investigations continue to uncover additional connections, with further arrests and recoveries anticipated.
