In a tragic incident early Saturday, a shooting at Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico resulted in the death of one airman and the wounding of another. Military officials have confirmed the shooting is not related to terrorism or any external attack.
The shooting took place near one of the base's entrances around 2 a.m. The airman succumbed to injuries at the scene, while the wounded airman received hospital treatment for a hand injury and was later discharged, as per the base's official statement.
The Air Force's Office of Special Investigations is leading the investigation, supported by FBI agents and Albuquerque police. At this time, no suspects are being sought, and the names of the involved airmen have not been revealed.
