The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) announced an innovative house-tax waiver scheme to alleviate taxpayer burdens. The initiative, led by the AAP, aims to clear dues for 2024-25 while erasing past debts, as confirmed in a press briefing by Mayor Mahesh Khichi and other officials on Monday.
The scheme offers complete tax exemption for properties up to 100 square yards, and significant reductions for larger plots, including a 50% waiver for homes between 100 and 500 square yards. Notably, 1,300 housing societies ineligible for past exemptions now enjoy a 25% cut in taxes.
MCD's Deputy Mayor highlighted the strategy's dual impact: providing residents with financial relief and reducing corruption in tax collection. AAP's leadership also plans to regularize thousands of contractual employees, further stabilizing the city's governance and public service sectors.
