Cosmetic Shop Owner Arrested for Illegal E-Cigarette Trade in Indore

A cosmetics shop owner in Indore, Umesh Nanikshahi, was arrested for possessing banned electronic cigarettes and hookahs worth Rs 10 lakh. He allegedly used a bike taxi service for delivery after online bookings. The case is under investigation under the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act, 2019.

An Indore cosmetics shop owner, Umesh Nanikshahi, was arrested by police on Tuesday for being in possession of banned electronic cigarettes and hookahs valued at approximately Rs 10 lakh, officials confirmed.

According to Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajesh Dandotia, the detention followed a tip-off. The contraband, which includes e-cigarettes, hookahs, their flavors, and charcoal, was seized from Nanikshahi's warehouse in the Ranipura area.

Investigations reveal that he facilitated orders through online bookings and used a bike taxi service for delivery. A case has been registered under the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act, 2019, and further questioning is underway.
