Tragic Tank Incident: Labour Contractors Arrested in South Mumbai
Two labour contractors were arrested in connection with the deaths of four individuals while cleaning a water tank in a building under construction in South Mumbai. In a tragic incident in South Mumbai, two labour contractors, Abdul Dalim Shaikh and Animesh Biswas, have been arrested following the deaths of four workers. The victims died after entering a water tank for cleaning at an under-construction building, as confirmed by police officials on Monday.
The unfortunate event unfolded on Sunday afternoon at Bismillah Space building, located on Dimtimkar Road in Nagpada. Among the five labourers who entered the tank, four were declared dead upon arrival at JJ hospital, with one worker currently hospitalized.
Charges against the contractors include negligence leading to death, harm by administering poison, and joint criminal liability, as per sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Authorities highlighted that the arrests were made after substantial evidence of lapses on the contractors' part was found.
