In a significant disclosure, Odisha's Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi revealed on Monday that the state has identified 3,738 Bangladeshi infiltrators over the last ten years. This revelation came during a written response to a query raised by BJP legislator Manas Kumar Dutta.
The regions with the highest numbers of identified infiltrators include Kendrapara with 1,649 cases, followed by Jagatsinghpur, Malkangiri, Bhadrak, Nabarangpur, and Bhubaneswar. These areas account for a significant portion of the infiltrations, highlighting a regional security concern.
Majhi emphasized that the state government has mandated local officials to collaborate and identify more such infiltrators to facilitate their return to Bangladesh. Recently, the Odisha Police apprehended ten illegal Bangladeshi immigrants at a railway station, exemplifying ongoing enforcement efforts.
