Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) MLA Waheed Para has made a strong case for the reconstitution of the Human Rights Commission in Jammu and Kashmir. In the wake of recent violent incidents in Kathua district, Para emphasized the need to address human rights issues and criticized the government's law and order management during an assembly session.
Speaking during the Motion of Thanks, Para questioned the government's accountability and criticized the absence of a Truth and Reconciliation Commission, which had been promised by the National Conference. He underscored that the budget lacks focus on pressing issues concerning youth employment and local development, calling it heavily reliant on central schemes.
Para also voiced concerns over cultural preservation, condemning a fashion show in Gulmarg as it went against local traditions. He urged the government to fulfill previous promises, like reversing free stamp duty for women, and called for a budget that truly focuses on the needs of Jammu and Kashmir's populace.
