Kyiv's Command Confident Despite Russian Counteroffensive
Ukrainian troops in Russia's Kursk region remain resilient against a Russian counteroffensive that includes North Korean forces. Ukrainian General Oleksandr Syrskyi assures control and highlights significant losses on the Russian side, despite their recent territorial gains. Reports reveal destroyed border settlements amid ongoing conflicts.
Kyiv's top general has assured that Ukrainian forces in Russia's Kursk region are not in danger of being surrounded, despite a Russian counteroffensive bolstered by North Korean troops. General Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that the situation remains under control.
According to Syrskyi, open source maps have depicted recent advances by Russian forces into a small territory occupied by Ukraine last year, potentially for bargaining purposes in future peace negotiations. He underscored the destruction of some border settlements due to aggressive shelling.
The Russian defence ministry announced on Sunday that its forces have reclaimed three more settlements in the Kursk area, though Syrskyi highlighted that Russian forces, despite their numbers and reinforcements, continue to incur significant losses.
