Mumbai Police's Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has scheduled a polygraph test for Hitesh Mehta, ex-general manager of New India Co-operative Bank, amid an ongoing Rs 122-crore fraud investigation, officials announced Monday.
The lie detector test will happen at the state-run Forensic Science Laboratory in Kalina, according to a police official. Mehta, arrested last month, is accused of leading a scheme that allegedly siphoned off the substantial amount over five years.
Authorities, including a Mumbai court, have endorsed advanced forensic testing to further probe the case, in which four individuals face custody while several, including former chairman Hiren Bhanu and ex-vice-chair Gauri Bhanu, have been implicated but remain at large.
