In a significant development in the murder case of journalist Raghvendra Bajpai in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh, three policemen have been suspended due to negligence, while a station house officer (SHO) has been transferred, officials reported on Tuesday.
Superintendent of Police Chakresh Mishra confirmed that Maholi's SHO, Vinod Mishra, now reports to the Police Lines. Meanwhile, Padarkha outpost in-charge Satish Chandra and constables Rajkumar and Narendra Mohan face suspension, signaling more potential disciplinary action.
Bajpai, aged 35, was murdered near the Hempur railway crossing on the Delhi-Lucknow National Highway on March 8. Police have detained 25 individuals, including governmental revenue officials, as they scrutinize multiple leads and examine Bajpai's phone and crime scene CCTV footage to secure arrests swiftly.
