The Bahraich district has taken a strong stance by enforcing the National Security Act against five individuals implicated in last October's communal violence during a Durga idol immersion procession in Maharajganj.
According to District Magistrate Monika Rani, this action follows the recommendations of senior police officials and aims to preserve public order after the death of a participant, Ram Gopal Mishra, during the unrest.
An FIR was filed after Hari Milan, the victim's brother, lodged a complaint with the Hardi police. The investigation confirmed charges against 13 individuals, and legal proceedings are in progress.
