In a high-profile political fraud scandal, three men were arrested for impersonating Jay Shah, Union Home Minister Amit Shah's son. The trio allegedly contacted multiple Manipur MLAs, offering them the position of chief minister in exchange for Rs 4 crore.
The accused, Uvaish Ahmed, Gaurav Nath, and Priyansu Pant, were brought to Imphal from Uttarakhand as part of an ongoing investigation linked to two FIRs. Manipur has been under President's rule since February 13, following the resignation of Chief Minister N Biren Singh amidst ethnic violence.
The state's legislative assembly remains in suspended animation, with tensions high due to the conflict between Meiteis and Kuki-Zo groups. The alleged impersonators promised state governance roles in a ploy exploiting the region's volatile political landscape.
