In a dramatic and deadly standoff, Pakistani security forces successfully ended a train hijacking by separatist militants on Wednesday, resulting in the elimination of all 33 insurgents involved. The incident unfolded after the Baloch militants attacked the Jaffar Express on its route to Peshawar, detonating explosives on the railway and launching rockets.

According to military spokesperson Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, 21 hostages lost their lives during the assault. Despite the casualties, notable efforts were made to protect civilians, with no unintended fatalities occurring during the rescue operation that freed 440 people, including women and children.

This hijacking, claimed by the Baloch Liberation Army, marks an intensification in the group's tactics as they seek greater control over Balochistan's natural resources. The militants set a deadline for demands, threatening to execute hostages, but were countered decisively by security forces, preventing further loss of civilian life.
