Tragic Tale of Honor Killing in Gujarat

A man in Gujarat was arrested for murdering his daughter due to her inter-caste relationship. The crime was initially concealed with a hasty cremation, which aroused the suspicions of relatives. Police were informed, leading to the arrest of the father and his brother.

In a chilling case of honor killing, Gujarat's Bhavnagar district witnessed the arrest of a man accused of murdering his 19-year-old daughter over an inter-caste love affair, authorities revealed on Thursday.

The incident, which took place on March 7, saw the young woman strangled by her father, Dipak Rathod, who harbored anger towards her relationship with a man from a different caste. Rathod, with the assistance of his brother Lalji, secretly cremated the body, raising suspicions among relatives.

The deceased's relatives, suspicious of the sudden and secretive cremation, questioned Rathod. His inconsistent responses led them to notify the police, culminating in the arrest of both Rathod and his brother on murder charges.
