Oscar-winning director Hamdan Ballal was arrested after being injured during an assault by Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank. The attack took place during an Iftar gathering in Susiya village, attended by Ballal, co-director of the influential documentary 'No Other Land,' said local council head, Jihad Nawajaa.

Nawajaa reported that settlers assaulted the Iftar gathering, resulting in eight Palestinian injuries. Three men, including Ballal, were arrested by Israeli police amidst escalating tensions. The incident is part of a pattern of alleged settler raids against Palestinian communities, often accompanied by theft of livestock.

Ballal's wife, Lamia, detailed how settlers gathered around their home, leading to Ballal's intervention and subsequent arrest. Amidst rising international concern, the Israeli military cited Palestinians acting violently, leading to the detentions, while denying some claims of the arrest circumstances.
