The Supreme Court-appointed panel has substantiated allegations of cash discovery against Allahabad High Court's Justice Yashwant Varma, as per its inquiry report, sources revealed. Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna is believed to have advised the judge to resign in light of the report's significant findings.

Chief Justice Khanna has passed the panel's report to Justice Varma, seeking his feedback, adhering to natural justice principles, sources indicated. The panel comprised three high court justices and finalized the report on May 3, documenting evidence and over 50 testimonies, including those of top officials involved in the initial response to a fire at Varma's residence.

The discovery of substantial cash during the fire incident at Varma's Delhi residence, during his tenure as a Delhi High Court judge, has been contested by Varma. Following the controversy escalation from media reports, measures were implemented, including judicial work reassignment and his subsequent transfer to Allahabad High Court.
