Cross-Border Tensions: India and Pakistan's Historic Strife

India declared on Wednesday that it launched attacks on nine sites in Pakistan, which it claims are the origin of terrorist acts against India, following a devastating incident in Kashmir last month.

The two nuclear-capable nations, both staking a claim in the predominantly Muslim region of Kashmir, have seen two wars since their independence in 1947. The recent surge in violence been attributed by New Delhi to groups associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba, an organization based in Pakistan.

Pakistan, denouncing any implication in the Kashmir event, reported that India's strikes resulted in civilian casualties. It further retaliated by downing Indian jets, proclaiming the intent to reciprocate the Indian actions strategically.
