Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has stated that only Pakistan can decide if it wants to de-escalate growing tensions with India after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that left 26 civilians dead. Speaking at a media briefing, Misri highlighted that any further escalation by Pakistan would be met with a firm response from India.
Misri cautioned Pakistan against using fabricated allegations against India as a pretext for targeting Indian infrastructure and said that Islamabad would be responsible for any consequences. He also criticized Pakistan for its disinformation campaign following Operation Sindoor and for trying to distance itself from its reputation as a hub of global terrorism.
Additionally, Misri rejected Pakistan's calls for a joint investigation into the Pahalgam attack, citing its poor track record in previous investigations. He also mentioned India's approach to the IMF regarding Pakistan's bailout package, indicating India's stance at an upcoming board meeting.
