In its May 7 order, the Commission addressed reports of alleged illegal mining operations, focusing on areas around Pinjore-Nalagarh road, Mallah Road, Raipur Rani, and Barwala. An incident where a police officer was threatened by illegal miners has heightened the urgency of the situation.

Highlighting possible collusion between offenders and officials, the Commission's chair, Justice Lalit Batra, and members Kuldip Jain and Deep Bhatia emphasize the need for a comprehensive investigation. A zero-tolerance policy for environmental crimes is being adopted, with strict legal consequences to follow. Department representatives are summoned to provide action plans by August 19.
