A committee has been established by local authorities in Jabalpur to investigate the care of horses on a farm in Raipura village after the deaths of three horses. Previously, eight horses died allegedly due to heat. The district panchayat's chief executive will lead this inquiry into alleged neglect.
The issues came to light when a veterinary team surveyed the farm following earlier fatalities. These horses were reportedly transported from Hyderabad by Sachin Tiwari. Concerns were raised about their health and management by local residents who were alarmed at the conditions.
Animal welfare activist Simran Issar filed a petition with the Madhya Pradesh High Court seeking action against Tiwari. The petition alleges unregulated transport and poor documentation practices, including lack of ownership records, vaccination data, and legal permissions, sparking broader concerns for animal welfare and legality in transport.
