Impeachment Drama Unfolds: Justice Varma's Cash Controversy
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla clarified that the impeachment of Justice Yashwant Varma is not yet before Parliament. The controversy stems from a cash-discovery incident leading to a report by then CJI Sanjiv Khanna. Parliament may discuss the issue in its upcoming session if a motion is brought forward.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla stated on Monday that the impeachment proceedings concerning Justice Yashwant Varma have not yet reached Parliament, and thus, refrained from commenting further on the issue.
Then Chief Justice of India, Sanjiv Khanna, had recommended to the president and prime minister the removal of Justice Varma, following a cash-discovery incident which was probed by a three-judge in-house panel.
Justice Varma, after declining Justice Khanna's resignation suggestion, faces potential impeachment, requiring backing from either 50 Rajya Sabha members or 100 Lok Sabha members for the motion to proceed in Parliament.
