In a bid to combat the illegal cultivation of cannabis, Sikkim Police carried out a significant operation on Tuesday. Acting on a tip-off, police personnel from Soreng and Chakung police stations descended upon Dodak village, where they dismantled approximately 800 cannabis plants, according to officials.
This operation is part of a wider initiative by the state government aimed at achieving a drug-free society, highlighting a stringent approach towards illicit drug activities. Authorities have urged community members to remain vigilant and proactive in reporting suspicious activities.
The crackdown in Soreng follows a similar sweep in Pakyong district last week, where police successfully eradicated around 300 cannabis plants, signaling an ongoing commitment to curbing illegal drug cultivation across the state.
