Courier Impersonator Commits Heinous Crime in Pune

A man posing as a courier agent allegedly raped a woman in Pune, leaving a warning message on her phone. The incident occurred at her apartment when she was alone. Efforts are underway to capture the suspect using CCTV footage. Police have registered a case under various legal sections.

An unidentified man allegedly raped a 22-year-old woman in Pune, gaining entry into her home by pretending to be a courier delivery executive, police reported on Thursday. The attacker took a selfie and left a threatening message on the victim's phone, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajkumar Shinde.

The attack occurred Wednesday evening at a housing society in the Kondhwa area. The victim, working in a private company, was home alone as her brother was out of town. Upon posing as a delivery agent, the man entered the home by asking for a pen, then latched the door behind her.

The victim lost consciousness around 7:30 pm and later informed her relatives, leading to police involvement. Suspected of using a substance to render her unconscious, the police are investigating this possibility. A case has been filed under relevant sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and efforts continue to locate the suspect using CCTV footage.
