Authorities in Assam have apprehended two high-ranking officials following allegations that they contributed to the suicide of a junior engineer in the Public Works Department.
The female engineer, stationed in Bongaigaon and originally from Guwahati, was discovered dead in her apartment earlier this week. In a suicide note, she accused the two officials of causing her significant distress.
The arrested individuals—an executive engineer and a sub-divisional officer—were previously transferred from the district. Investigators are currently verifying allegations involving undue pressure over construction projects and coercion to approve inflated bills.
