In a significant move to bolster bilateral relations, India and the United Kingdom have finalized a defence industrial roadmap aimed at the co-development and co-production of key defence products. The agreement was reached following comprehensive talks between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his UK counterpart Keir Starmer.
The roadmap signifies a strategic collaboration intended to fulfill growing defence demands in both nations while catering to the global market. The two leaders lauded the burgeoning defence and security ties, reflecting an upswing in India-UK relations over recent years.
Past collaborations include the UK's Carrier Strike Group's visits to India and joint exercises like Exercise Konkan Shakti. Discussions also encompassed broader geopolitical issues, such as peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific. The two nations have expressed intentions to engage in emerging technology sectors and endorsed the Technology and Security Initiative (TSI), launched last year.
