India has witnessed a remarkable decline in Naxal-related violence, with incidents plummeting by 81% and resultant deaths by 85% from 2010 to 2024, according to statements in the Lok Sabha.
The Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, highlighted a decrease in Left Wing Extremists-affected districts, falling sharply from 126 in 2013 to only 18 by April 2025. This decline is attributed to the comprehensive 'National Policy and Action Plan to address LWE' introduced in 2015, employing a multi-faceted approach.
Initiatives encouraged extremists to reintegrate with society through 'Surrender cum Rehabilitation' policies, providing financial support and vocational training. The strategy has significantly curtailed violence and reduced the movement's geographical influence, demonstrating the policy's effectiveness.
