In a significant legal decision, a Meerut court sentenced a man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment on Tuesday for the rape of a minor girl in 2017.
Additional District Judge Mohd Babar Khan found the defendant, Bhure, guilty and imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 in addition to the prison term.
The initial case, which also involves two juvenile offenders, remains unresolved as proceedings continue in the court.
