The Maldivian government declared on Wednesday the introduction of a 90-day visa-on-arrival policy for Sri Lankan nationals. This significant diplomatic move came on the final day of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake's official visit to the capital, Malé.
The announcement follows Sri Lanka's recent decision to offer a one-year free visa facility for Maldivians, demonstrating strengthened ties between the two nations. The new Maldivian visa facility for Sri Lankans will be effective starting July 29.
This policy is part of a bilateral agreement on visa facilitation between Sri Lanka and the Maldives, as confirmed by Dissanayake's office, marking his first official visit to the Maldives as president since his election last year.
