Maharashtra's Revenue Department plans a special drive to identify violations on government land leased for social purposes, according to Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule. The initiative aims to regularize infractions with penalties, addressing misuse of land originally intended for schools and hospitals.
During the 'Revenue Week,' the state will grant land titles to those occupying government property illegally until 2011 and announce new housing allocations under the PM Awas Yojana. The assessment, scheduled for August 6, will focus on irregularities in land use, especially in cases where lease terms, spanning 90 to 999 years, have been breached.
Highlighting past violations, the minister urged district collectors to submit reports within 30 days. He emphasized that while regularizations are possible, blanket relief is not. In case of prolonged violations, the government plans to demolish encroachments and reclaim land. Additionally, the BJP aims to fulfill its election promise by issuing property cards to the Sindhi community across Maharashtra.
