A dispute erupted between two villages over the cremation of a Dalit man's body at a crematorium in Himachal Pradesh's Hamirpur district. Tensions rose when the designated grounds for the Scheduled Caste community of Nanawan village became unusable due to heavy rain.

The family turned to a nearby crematorium in Bhevad Saheli, which led to a confrontation with local residents resisting the move, prompting intervention from police and local authorities. The confrontation highlighted ongoing issues related to exclusive caste-based cremation grounds.

After police intervention, the cremation proceeded peacefully, and local authorities vowed to create a new crematorium for Nanawan village. Sub-Divisional Magistrate Rajendra Gautam assured residents that a permanent solution is being pursued.
