Mizoram Bolsters Border Security Amid Eviction Concerns

In response to eviction drives in Assam, the Mizoram government has heightened security along its inter-state borders. Increased police presence and stringent measures, like cautious Inner Line Permit issuance, aim to prevent illegal influxes into Mizoram. The Young Mizo Association has also urged for preventative actions.

In an effort to counter potential illegal influx following Assam's eviction initiatives, the Mizoram government has ramped up security along its borders with neighboring states. This development comes amid heightened concerns of cross-border migration.

Inspector General of Police (Law & Order and Headquarters) H. Ramthlengliana revealed that all police units near the Assam border, including places like Vairengte, Saiphai, and Saihapui V, have been put on high alert. Additional personnel have been deployed to these key locations.

The state is also cautious with issuing Inner Line Permits, ensuring strict screening. This move aligns with suggestions by organizations like the Young Mizo Association, emphasizing preemptive measures against unwanted influxes from Assam.
