Wealth Beyond Reach: Former Constable Under Investigation

The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has initiated proceedings against a former constable, Firdous Ahmad, who stands accused of amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. The case was made public on Wednesday.

Firdous Ahmad, previously a Selection Grade constable with Jammu and Kashmir Police, was dismissed from service. Preliminary investigations unearthed substantial wealth, including multiple properties such as a two-storied house on ancestral land in Anantnag, a palatial residence in Estate Machbhawan Mattan, a one-third hotel share in Pahalgam, and another house in Jammu.

Search warrants were sanctioned by the Anti-Corruption Court in Anantnag to investigate the accused's properties further, including a police quarter in Police Housing Colony Bemina. Officials confirmed that searches were continuing as reports last came in.
