Prajwal Revanna, grandson of former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, has been sentenced to life imprisonment after being convicted in a high-profile rape case. Following the verdict, the suspended JD(S) leader received prisoner number 15528 at Bengaluru's Parappana Agrahara Central Prison.

The former MP faced a tumultuous first night in jail, visibly distressed and in tears, according to prison officials. Doctors conducted a health check on Revanna late Saturday to ensure his condition remained stable.

Convicted for a series of offenses, including assaulting a 48-year-old domestic worker, Revanna plans to appeal the decision. The court imposed substantial fines, directing major portions to be paid to the victim.
