Maoist IED Blasts Disrupt Odisha-Jharkhand Railway Tracks

Two suspected Maoist IED blasts occurred on railway tracks along the Odisha-Jharkhand border, damaging tracks but not affecting passenger trains. Etawa Oram died, and Budharam Munda was injured. Authorities intensified operations in response, as the incidents coincide with 'Shahid Saptah,' a Maoist martyrs' week.

On Sunday night, railway tracks along the Odisha-Jharkhand border fell victim to two Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blasts, allegedly orchestrated by suspected Maoists, according to police reports.

The incidents took place at different locations near the Jharkhand border, causing damage to the tracks. Tragically, a railway worker, Etawa Oram, was killed in a similar explosion earlier, with another worker, Budharam Munda, sustaining injuries and now receiving treatment at Rourkela General Hospital.

The blasts struck tracks between Karampada and Renjda within the Bimlagarh section, though passenger train services remained unaffected. Responding to the situation, authorities have intensified patrols and combing operations in the area, deploying Special Operations Group and District Voluntary Force teams to maintain security.
