Authorities in Meghalaya's West Jaintia Hills detained two individuals for possession of heroin early Monday morning. The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), along with district police, intercepted a bus traveling from Assam to Shillong, leading to the arrests.
Following intelligence reports, the operation resulted in the recovery of over 50 grams of the drug. Officers discovered the heroin concealed in two passengers' belongings, wrapped in soap cases and hidden in undergarments and pockets.
Legal proceedings have commenced under the NDPS Act, as investigations propagate to dismantle the suspected narcotic network. Efforts are ongoing to trace the broader supply chain and affiliates involved in this drug trade.
