Chief Justice of India B R Gavai has announced a notable change in courtroom procedure, effective from August 11, that will see senior advocates barred from mentioning cases for urgent listings.

This shift is designed to offer junior lawyers the chance to step into the spotlight, allowing them to undertake oral mentions for urgent case hearings, a move that reverses the earlier practice established by Justice Sanjiv Khanna.

Senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi, present during the announcement, expressed his acceptance of the decision as long as it is applied uniformly, maintaining the court's commitment to fairness and opportunity for all legal practitioners.
