Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta addressed a long-standing controversy on Wednesday by guiding mediapersons through the historical section of the building known as 'Phansighar'.

Gupta clarified that contrary to popular belief, 'Phansighar' was not used to hang freedom fighters but was, in fact, a tiffin room.

Built in 1911 post King George V's coronation, the Assembly boasts two tiffin rooms with pulley-operated lifts, originally part of the Imperial Legislative Council architecture during British rule.
