Legal Tussle Intensifies over Krishna Janmabhoomi Dispute

A petition seeks to overturn a court ruling declaring a lawsuit as representative of all Hindu parties in the Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Idgah dispute. A legal petition has been filed with the Allahabad High Court, challenging a recent decision that designates Suit No. 17 as a representative claim for all Hindu parties involved in the Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi and Shahi Idgah mosque dispute in Mathura.

The petitioner, Kaushal Kishore Thakur, argues that the High Court's decision on July 18 was erroneous. Suit No. 17 was filed after all related cases were consolidated at the High Court, complicating the longstanding legal disputes over the historical site.

The ongoing controversy stems from claims that the Mughal-era Shahi Eidgah mosque was constructed upon the demolished site of a temple believed to be the birthplace of Lord Krishna. Further complicating the matter, the High Court dismissed challenges by the Muslim side against the suits aimed at restoring the temple site.
