Veteran social activist Anna Hazare expressed dismay on Sunday at banners in Pune calling on him to lead an agitation against alleged 'vote theft'.
Speaking to reporters, Hazare declared he had accomplished much and that it was time for the youth to continue his work. The banners in Pashan, featuring local activist Sameer Uttarkar's name, provocatively urged, 'Anna, at least wake up now'.
They referenced historical epics and implored Hazare to showcase his 'magic' again at Delhi's Jantar Mantar against alleged electoral malpractices.
Hazare responded, underscoring his introduction of 10 laws and emphasized that societal change should not rest solely on his shoulders. He urged the youth to engage in activism beyond ceremonial gestures, expressing regret at society's slow awakening despite their long struggle.
He encouraged young people to adopt Gandhian principles in addressing social and economic problems and noted similar allegations from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi about electoral irregularities and challenges against the Election Commission and the ruling BJP.
