Mizoram Boosts Border Security Amid Immigration Concerns

Mizoram's student body, Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), calls for increased security along the Assam border to prevent illegal immigration following an eviction drive in Assam. Concerns have risen over non-tribals, specifically Bangladeshi immigrants, seeking entry into Mizoram. MZP urges vigilance and cooperation with law enforcement to address these issues.

Mizoram's apex student organization, the Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), has called on the state government to enhance security and vigilance along the Assam border. This measure aims to prevent potential illegal immigration following an incident where non-tribals attempted to enter Mizoram without inner line permits (ILPs).

The urgency stems from fears that non-tribals, particularly Bangladeshi immigrants, are fleeing Assam due to an eviction drive targeting illegal immigrants. The MZP's president, H Lalthianghlima, emphasized the need for additional police deployment to curb illegal influx.

Though a senior police official linked the surge to a recruitment rally at the CAPF headquarters, MZP remains concerned. The organization met with the state Home minister to push for increased border surveillance and warned immigrants against entering without proper authorization.
