In a pressing statement, the head of the U.N. Palestinian refugee agency expressed grave concern over the escalating malnutrition crisis among children in Gaza. Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini revealed that data from UNRWA shows a six-fold increase in malnutrition cases since March.
Lazzarini emphasized the dire situation facing Gaza's already vulnerable population, which now faces an additional challenge with Israel's latest military operation. He warned that many lack the strength to endure another displacement, putting countless lives at risk.
Speaking in Geneva, Lazzarini stressed the urgent necessity for a crisis response plan to avert the impending disaster. Without immediate intervention, children suffering from malnutrition may not survive, he warned solemnly.
