Colombia faced a harrowing day of violence as 18 people were confirmed dead following two separate attacks linked to dissident factions of the former FARC guerrilla group.

In Cali, authorities reported a tragic incident where a cargo vehicle laden with explosives detonated near a Colombian Aerospace Force base. This attack resulted in six fatalities and left 71 individuals injured.

Earlier, in Antioquia's municipality of Amalfi, a Black Hawk helicopter involved in a coca eradication mission was shot down, claiming the lives of 12 National Police officers. President Gustavo Petro holds the FARC dissidents, who refused the 2016 peace accord, responsible for these atrocities.
