The Delhi High Court has decided not to halt the ongoing trial court proceedings against Gautam Gambhir, head coach of the Indian cricket team, his foundation, and others charged with illegally stocking and distributing COVID-19 medications.
On August 29, Justice Neena Bansal Krishna agreed to hear Gambhir's petition, which seeks to quash the FIR and reverse an April 9 decision that lifted the stay on trial court proceedings. The judge remarked on the slow progress resulting from the repeated requests for stay restoration.
During the hearing, Advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai emphasized Gambhir's prior roles and contributions during the pandemic. However, the court deemed these points irrelevant. The prosecution remains active, and the trial court is set to reconvene on September 8 to further address the charges under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.
