Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced a joint survey by the revenue and agriculture departments for assessing crop damage, promising compensation to affected farmers. The directive comes in response to the recent devastation caused by excessive rains and floods in the region.

Addressing expectations for a crop loan waiver, Siddaramaiah stated, "Let's see, we will examine it." He emphasized that the immediate priority is compensating farmers for crop loss, with a comprehensive survey planned within a week. Several districts, including Bidar, Kalaburagi, and Yadgir, have experienced significant crop damage.

Regarding inquiries about compensation for uninsured farmers, Siddaramaiah mentioned ongoing discussions. On the lack of central government support for higher compensation under NDRF norms, he expressed frustration, citing previous visits to Delhi. Additionally, he addressed concerns about ineligible BPL cardholders and rice export allegations under the "Anna Bhagya" scheme.
