The Puducherry Assembly's one-day session on Thursday ended prematurely after 45 minutes, following protests by opposition DMK and Congress MLAs.
Speaker R Selvan began proceedings with tributes to prominent figures, but the session was soon interrupted as MLAs urged for an extended session to debate critical matters such as safe drinking water and an insurance scheme for the poor.
Despite the commotion, the House passed multiple bills and adopted a resolution supporting GST reforms before adjourning sine die, as opposition members continued their protests outside the assembly.
