Engineers Convicted in Jammu Bribery Case

Two PWD engineers were convicted by the Anti-Corruption Court for accepting a Rs 45,000 bribe in Doda district, Jammu and Kashmir. The engineers, Raja Faisal and Syed Ikhlaq Hussain Peer, were sentenced to rigorous imprisonment and fined after being found guilty under corruption and criminal conspiracy charges.

In a significant development, the Anti-Corruption Court on Thursday sentenced two PWD engineers to rigorous imprisonment for accepting a bribe. This conviction follows the 2011 arrest of junior engineer Raja Faisal, who was caught red-handed in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district.

The investigation highlighted the role of assistant executive engineer Syed Ikhlaq Hussain Peer in the conspiracy. Both engineers have been convicted under the Prevention of Corruption Act and various sections of the IPC, reflecting a strong stance against corruption by the judiciary.

The case stemmed from a contractor's complaint regarding delayed payments for road work, leading to the bribery demand. This judicial action sends a strong message about accountability among public officials in the region.
