A tragic incident unfolded in Udhampur district, Jammu and Kashmir, where a soldier lost his life after a bullet from his service rifle struck him outside a military hospital, authorities reported on Tuesday.
The police have initiated inquest proceedings to determine whether the death resulted from an accidental discharge or a deliberate act of suicide. The soldier, a driver, was waiting in a parked medication supply vehicle when the fatal shooting occurred.
Upon hearing the gunshot, his colleagues hastened to the vehicle, discovering him critically injured in a pool of blood. He was immediately transported to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival, according to official sources.
