Major Smuggling Network Dismantled in Amritsar

Five individuals have been arrested in Amritsar as authorities uncover a cross-border arms and narcotics smuggling network. The police seized 1.50 kg of heroin and 12 pistols. A significant cross-border smuggling network has been dismantled in Amritsar following the arrest of five individuals, local police reported on Thursday. The operation led to the recovery of 1.50 kg of heroin and 12 pistols.

Investigations have revealed that two of the accused, Joban Singh and Jashanpreet Singh, had direct communication with smugglers based in Pakistan. The Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav, stated on X that the interactions were conducted via social media platforms to coordinate the delivery and receipt of illegal consignments.

The consignment was allegedly intended to fuel gang rivalries within Punjab. A case has been filed under appropriate legal provisions, and further investigations are ongoing to uncover the broader network, including its upstream and downstream connections.
