The deadly confrontations at the border saw dozens of fighters killed, marking the most severe conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan since the Taliban took control of Kabul. Both countries acknowledged the seriousness of the situation on Sunday.

China, sharing a border with both nations, has actively sought to mediate tensions, fostering dialogue to prevent the escalation of conflicts. The nation emphasized its willingness to improve diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan, as stated by foreign ministry spokesperson Lin Jian during a press briefing.

In August, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi participated in a meeting with Pakistani and Afghan officials in Kabul, advocating for enhanced exchanges at all levels. In a previous informal trilateral meeting hosted by Beijing, both Afghanistan and Pakistan agreed to elevate their diplomatic relations.
