The Telangana State Human Rights Commission has formally requested that the Director General of Police provide a comprehensive report regarding the shooting death of an accused individual, Shaik Riyaz, in a police encounter in Nizamabad district.

Riyaz, who had been detained on an unrelated vehicle theft charge, reportedly attacked a constable with a knife, leading police to respond with lethal force. The Commission has emphasized the need for transparency and adherence to legal guidelines in such situations.

DGP B Shivadhar Reddy honorably remembered the constable who succumbed to injuries following Riyaz's attack, while reaffirming the police force's commitment to upholding law and order. Announcements of significant support and financial aid for the affected constable's family were also made.
